Welcome
to the official website of Modern Management and The Secret Love Life of Harry the Shark.
Here you will find all the news and all the info you need on these two cult-bands that started out in the eighties and just released their first albums!
History
Modern Management (1980-1984) and The Secret Love Life of Harry the Shark (1984-1987) were cult bands with a small, but loyal following.
They were an artistic bunch of guys, and they often played their gigs against a strange background of mattress springs and an old wooden door with a broken window while showing home made 8 mm films.
Some people still remember Perry chanting an insane interpretation of C.S. Lewis’ poem The Jabberwock, followed by the raw song Jabberwocky – of which no releasable versions have survived.
The visual concept of the show was developed in close cooperation with KBL’s Thei Munten, who was also responsible for sound and light, as well as recording all the demos.
There are quite a few of those demos left, most of them with an amazing quality, considering the fact that they were all recorded in one take, with a homemade mixing desk and a tape delay as the only effect. No compressors, noise gates or reverbs – oh, all right, there was that red ramshackle Furman thingy. But the real FX only started with the Yamaha SPX 90 in 1987 (as used on a couple of TSLLOHTS tracks.)
The old recordings were digitally remastered to remove noise and open up the sound. After a careful selection of songs by the original members, two mp3-albums (256kbps) with some 20 tracks each were produced.
The albums, released by Virtual Factory Records, will be made available as free mp3-download. CDR-versions will be on sale for 6,95 euro plus p&p.
Download the mp3-albums here or here (link will start working in May).

The Artwork
The artwork of the albums is finished. It is simple and functional. Although CD-versions of the albums will be available, it is nice to know that those people who download the zip-packages, will be able to print their own covers and CD labels.
